Young people are the heart and soul of Mimi’s Cafe’s employee force, so the company naturally felt drawn to student recognition programs for its community outreach work. Since 1992, Mimi’s has been involved with local schools through its student recognition program, which awards free kids’ meals to high achievers. Through Mimi’s 132 restaurants, the company distributed 2 million certificates to kids last year, totaling nearly $10 million in food donations. Mimi’s also recognizes the grown-ups that motivate the kids by awarding certificates of appreciation to teachers and PTA staff for their participation in educating future leaders. The company distributed 250,000 teacher and PTA awards last year worth $2 million in food.
